When my parents presented me with a ticket to Brazil for my birthday, I was overjoyed—finally! I had always dreamed of visiting the South American country—the country responsible for one-third of the world’s coffee production and of the most majestic waterfalls.
I kept counting the days ‘till my flight, not being able to sleep at night. I was up Googling places to visit, restaurants with the best foods and stores where I could purchase all the cute summer dresses I could get my hands on.
So when I landed in Brazil, I checked into my hotel room—an inexpensive package I was able to find through a little bit of web-browsing. The room was okay, a little dusty and the furnishing wasn’t something off the set of a TV show. But I was too exhausted to complain. I needed a nap because I was jetlagged from the trip. Before I knew it, my first night in Rio was over. I woke up with puffy eyes and a weird tingling sensation in my scalp.
I chalked it up to not being used to a new place. Despite my body aching from the long flight, I decided get ready, have breakfast and go to all the tourist-y places in the city.
I had everything pre-planned. I was going to have breakfast at a café down the street. I heard that their scrambled eggs with garlic cheese bread were a must-have.
After I had my breakfast, I decided to head to Sugarloaf Mountain. I had always wanted to go there, ever since I saw a documentary on it on T.V.
But my excitement was short-lived. My head started itching badly I used a pencil to itching the corners of my head, pretending to be thinking. But when I did, my jaw dropped in awe. Right there. On my notepad. There was a creepy, crawly, brown critter struggling to get away.
It was the size of a sesame seed. I quickly ran up to the counter, paid the bill and ran out of the café. The rest of my days were spent covering my head with a scarf or hat so no-one could see what I was dealing with. Luckily, the trip was only for a week. As soon as I came back home, I Googled remedies for head lice, which were as useful as a white crayon.
The following months were in agony until I finally broke down and confided in my friend. She laughed and comforted me. She then told me about Lice Busters USA, a professional lice removal service. When I went to their clinic, I was skeptical. But that quickly changed when they began their treatment process. They used special combs and natural products to get rid of the lice—strand by strand.
I’m happy to say that was a year ago and I haven’t had to deal with head lice ever since.
If you are struggling with an infestation, I strongly recommend their services. You can call them at (800) 405-8201 or visit their website for further details.
