Top Bug Movies that Prove That Lice Aren’t the Only Monsters Around

Remember Starship Troopers? You probably laugh about it now, but as we can all agree, the gigantic bugs were nothing short of a nightmare for most of us as kids. The huge creepy crawlies that planned to take over the world and destroy mankind were frightening. But for those who were brave souls, they were a chance to show every other alien force just how awesome mankind is.

For some reason, however, lice seem a lot scarier than the massive bugs on our screens. Perhaps it’s because despite their tiny size, they are much more real than any science fiction villain.

But their realness just goes to show that we can face our worst fears head-on, and get rid of the problem. Now imagine if the bugs from bug movies were real. Then we’d have something to be scared of!

Here are a few bug movies that were not only the bane of our existence as kids, but the reason we’re glad lice aren’t the only bugs around!

Bug (2006)

Warning: not for the weak-hearted!

Bug is about a war veteran who decides to stay together with a lonely woman in a spooky, scary Oklahoma motel room. Things start getting weird when they encounter a pest infestation. While a cockroach or two is something you expect to see in a motel, what would you do with you encounter hundreds of bugs?

The tagline of the film? Paranoia is contagious.

Mimic

This is on top of our horror movie list! The plot centers on an entomologist who designs a bug to kill cockroaches. But that backfires as the insect joins the dark side and creates an army of its kind. Their goal? Destroy mankind.

If that’s not enough, these insects can mimic human form. Yikes!

They Nest (2000)

Remember Animorphs? Well, this is something similar, but scarier. The movie is about an island in Maine that is inhabited by a strange species of insects that attack humans and take over their mind and body!

Imagine having to face that!

Not only are these bug movies scary, they are a reminder that lice aren’t the only problem around.
